May is Disability Income Awareness Month!

Most Common Disability Insurance Claims

Most individual disability income (IDI) claims fall into a few key categories:

-Musculoskeletal issues (back, joints, arthritis) – the #1 cause

-Mental health (anxiety, depression, burnout) – rapidly increasing

-Cancer – often leads to extended time off work

-Injuries (accidents, fractures)

-Cardiovascular conditions (heart attack, stroke)

-Neurological disorders (MS, Parkinson’s, severe migraines)

Key insight: The majority of claims (~80%) are due to illness, not accidents.
